This week saw plenty of action from all three of the IOMBBA Basketball Leagues. In the Men's League there was a top of the table clash between Microgaming Cavaliers and Ron Smiths' Turkeys, Pinoy Rams played the GB Marvels and Timbermann Tigers took on Pokerstars. The Ladies league featured a match up between the undefeated Fellas and second place Sleepwell Slammers, while the Panthers took on Search & Select Saints. Meanwhile in the Junior League there was a match up betwen GB'a and GB'z.

Men's League

The top game in the men's league was the clash between old rivals and joint league leaders Ron Smiths Turkeys and Microgamimng Cavaliers, the winners of which would be favourites to lift the league title. It was the Cavs who opened strongly in the first quarter and helped by some big inside plays they raced into an 11 point lead 23-12 by the end of the period. The second quarter saw the Cavs continue their free scoring play and with their big men continuing to control the board at both ends, the Turkeys were unable to respond and they trailed 38 - 20 at the half time break. The start of the third quarter saw the Cavs again start strongly and with Paul Kilic controlling the game from the top they continued to dominate the game and with the Turkeys unable to make inroads into the lead, Cavs led 47 - 27 going into the final period. The fourth quarter saw the Cavs keep up the pressure and they eventually ran out comfortable 62 - 41 winners in what turned out to be a one sided game, to leave them in pole position to retain their league title.

The other two games played saw victories for Pinoy Rams 65 - 60 over GB Marvels in a very tight game that was in the balance up until the final minute, while Timbermann Tigers record a 84 - 32 victory over Poker Stars

Ladies League
The first of the games in the ladies league saw undefeated league leaders Fella come up against the in form Sleepwell Slammers. In a tight opening quarter the score was tied 10 - 10 at the end of the period. The start of the second quarter saw the Fellas take control and using their fast break to good effect they opened up an eight point lead 28-20 going into the half time break. The third quarter saw the Slammers control the game and taking the quarter 20-5, they held up a seven point lead going into the final period. The final quarter saw the Fellas team start strongly, they hit ten unanswered points to take a three point lead and with Sarah Kerford hitting two free throws in the final minute they held on to take a hard fought game 51 - 46.

The second game in the ladies league saw Panthers overcome Search and Select Saints 37 - 29


Junior League
The only junior league game played saw GB'a record a 50 - 42 victory over GB'z, with the GB'a team only pulling away in the final minute of the game.
