Ladies Team Completes Dribbleathon for Island Games

The Ladies Basketball team successfully completed a 5km dribbleathon along Douglas Promenade on Sunday to raise funds for their upcoming trip to the Island Games in Guernsey this July.

Seven members of the team were able to make it for the dribbleathon, started the Sea Terminal shortly after noon, completing the 5km down and back in under an hour. The event was attended by several supporters and well-wishers who cheered the team along the way.

Speaking about the event, team captain, Becky Dunne, said: “It was fun and we’re really pleased to have completed the dribbleathon. We wanted to do something different to raise funds for our trip to the Island Games, and this seemed like a enjoyable and challenging way to do it – especially in the misty weather!”

Another team member, Lauren Ellison, added: “The support from the community has been amazing. We’re really grateful to everyone who has sponsored us and helped along the way to our fundraising target.”

The team hopes that the funds raised from the dribbleathon will help towards, kit, travel and accommodation costs for the Island Games, where they will be competing against teams from other small island nations.
