Play-off success for Wolves & Jets

The Semi-Finals of the Isle of Man Basketball Association 2022/23 Championship were held on Thursday, April 27th 2023, at the NSC, Groves Road, Douglas. Four teams participated in the Semi-Finals, with the winners advancing to the championship final to be played on Thursday, May 4th, at 20:00.

The first semi-final was a closely contested game between Wolves and MicroGaming Cavaliers. Despite missing some key players, Wolves managed to outscore Cavaliers in every quarter to clinch a convincing 72-44 victory. Ollie Smith was in fine form for Wolves, scoring three 3-pointers in the opening quarter, while Cameron Scott grabbed rebounds and Oscar Lace and Michael Pardoe played excellent fast break basketball. Dave Minay played well for Cavaliers, with solid shooting from the free throw line and some nice cuts by Les Winnicki and Phil Evans.

The second semi-final was between Forget Me Not Jets, the top seed, and Turkeys, the fourth seed. Jets took control of the game early on and never looked back, with fast breaks from Jake Glover and Peter Boussougou and excellent outside shooting from Paul Kilic. Chris Wolfendale was the standout player for Turkeys, scoring most of their points. In the end, Jets emerged as the winners, with a scoreline of 95-50.

With these results, Wolves and Jets advanced to the championship final, which promises to be an exciting match-up. The final will be held on Thursday, May 4th, at 20:00, at the NSC, Groves Road, Douglas.
