Wolves Triumph Over Jets in Thrilling Championship Final
On Thursday, 4th May, the highly anticipated championship final for the Isle of Man Basketball Association 2022/23 Senior Season took place at the NSC, Douglas on the arena court. The game featured the current title holders, Forget Me Not Jets, and the Wolves, who were making their first finals appearance. In a thrilling match, the Wolves managed to come back from a 12-point deficit in the 3rd quarter and ultimately secure victory in overtime, beating the Jets by 8 points.
The game started with both teams showing a strong performance, as the Jets edged out the Wolves in the first quarter with a score of 17-15. The Jets maintained their momentum in the second quarter, scoring 18 points to the Wolves’ 13, and took a comfortable lead into halftime.
However, the Wolves were not ready to give up. In the third quarter, they managed to reduce the Jets’ lead by outscoring them 16-15. The Wolves continued to chip away at the deficit in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Jets 17-11. With 27 seconds left on the clock, Ross Wilson hit a clutch 3-point shot for the Wolves, tying the game at 61-61 and forcing the match into overtime.
The Wolves carried their newfound momentum into the extra period, outplaying the Jets by scoring 14 points to their 6. The final buzzer sounded with the scoreboard showing a final score of 75-67 in favor of the Wolves.
